Van Morrison's Bang Records Contractual Obligation Session
What is the quickest way for a musician can get out of a loathsome record label contract? Ask Van Morrison. In 1967 he went into the studio and improvised about 30 songs to satisfy contractual obligations to Bang Records, his record label at the time. With topics ranging from ringworm to pastry cravings, Van the Man obviously did not give a damn what he was recording. Eventually he was able to cut ties with the label and release Astral Weeks on Warner Brothers.
Thanks to WFMU's Beware of the Blog for posting EVERY MP3 FROM THIS SESSION!!
