The French New-Wave Revival Creeps Me Out

The French New-Wave Revival Creeps Me Out

"Polaroid/Roman/Photo" released in 1985 by French electronic musician Thierry Muller, under the moniker Ruth, is the aural equivalent of mannequins coming to life. And I don't mean in the zany Andrew McCarthy sense.

Don't get me wrong I dig the song in general, but I must say that its schizophrenic "Showroom Dummies" meets Melody Nelson dynamism gives me the New-Wave willies. Maybe that's why I like it...

More creepy French 80's New-Wave can be found on the new comp Bippp: French Synth Wave 1979-1985, courtesy of Everloving Records.
