Swedish Trance Rock!

Swedish Trance Rock!

When I am working at the computer I have to listen to music. More often than not it is usually some kind of krautrockish album (apart from Neu,) something dissonant, perhaps drone-ish like Sonic Youth's A Thousand Leaves or even Bitches Brew but when I am feeling particularly productive it is usually because I have been listening to my favorite psychedelic Swedish trance rock band Träd, Gräs, och Stenar.

Known in English as Trees, Grass, and Stones this Swedish band has been zoning out since 1967. Their live album Djungelns Lag(jungle law in English) is a collection of tracks recorded during a 1971 tour of Sweden and Norway inspired by Scandinavian folk music, drugs, radical politics, the Velvet Underground and Indian ragas. Despite where they musically wander, this album is generally mellow yet moving, always measured and deliberate, even at its' most abstract and tangential. Unfortunately the album is out of print, but fortunately for you here are a couple mp3's.

Keep them on your radar so when this album is re-issued you'll be in the know.
