New Music From Sweden: First Aid Kit's "Cross Oceans"
I was paruzzing Discobelle the other day and came across this gem from new Swedish duo First Aid Kit. The band consists of sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg, ages 15 and 17, respectively (crazy!). The sound of "Cross Oceans," from their debut EP Drunken Trees, is filled with a strong sense of tension, outlined by a beautiful melody and clearly influenced by 60s and 70s troubadours. It's fitting that they are signed to The Knife's Rabid Records label, considering the fact that their music sounds like it could be an acoustic, camp-fire companion to The Knife's twisted, electro opus Silent Shout.
