New Music From Be Your Own Pet, "Heart Throb"
Now what would Valentine's Day be without a some riot grrl angst? "Heart Throb," the not-so-lovey-dovey track from Be Your Own Pet's second album Get Awkward, features lead singer Jemina Pearl getting pissed off at a dude who won't show any emotion toward her (does he not realize how hot she is?). Immature lyrics like "Your making my stomach hurt way too much" mixed with more mature, poetic lyrics like "The sun is getting brighter, but I'm still cold" show that the band is maintaining their youthful punch, yet gaining a grown-up edge.
