Merry Clayton, The Epic Voice Behind the Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter"
The Rolling Stones' Let It Bleed album begins with the political tune, "Gimme Shelter". But who is that massive voice belting it out under Jagger's cocksure mumbles?
Thanks to Merry Clayton's soulful backing vocals, "Gimme Shelter" has gone down as one of the most beloved in Stones library.
