José Gonzalez Writes Apology Letter to His Guitar

We had a promise made, we were in love.

We had a promise made, we were in love.

Dear Frida (my lovely acoustic guitar),

First and foremost, I want to thank you for all of your love and support. Without you, I wouldn't have been able to create my new album In Our Nature, or my previous album Veneer. I thank you for these from the bottom of my heart. Frida, you have been there for me whenever I needed to let out my emotions. When we are together, alone, (on my records) I am extremely happy. You have truly made me the man (and songwriter) that I am today, and I will always love you for that, no matter what.

Now, because of our deep relationship, this will be hard for me to say, but I feel that I must. Frida, I need to let you in on a secret that I have been keeping...I have been seeing another guitar. She belongs to a band named Junip.

I know that no guitar could ever replace you, but I have felt like...well...that there was something missing. See, Wendy (the other guitar) and Junip have a drummer, and oh man...the music is fantastic. We played with each other 3 times one night, and we even recorded one of them (you can download it here).

Please understand that I tried to reach you, so that you could participate in the sessions, but you never picked up the phone. I guess it's because you are a guitar and technically can't speak. I should've insisted that you be their, but I was seduced by Junip, Wendy, and there beautiful studio and ended up living in the moment instead. I know now that I do not want drums, nor Junip...I just want you...and for things to be the way they used to. You know, all depressing and with no drums.

Frida, I am truly sorry. I still want to be with you, that is, of course, if you still want to be with me. I love you, Frida. Can you find it in your strings to ever forgive me?

All the love in the world,

José Gonzalez

PS - This letter was not written by the real José Gonzalez. I am pretty sure that he is not actually in love with his guitar, and I am definitely sure that his records are great. Buy them here.
