"It's Going To Happen" With The Undertones

Irish power-punks The Undertones came out with the single "It's Gonna Happen" in 1981. This upbeat tune is about being stuck in a one-sided relationship that needs resolve. The drag of a situation is going to persist until a conscious decision end it. However, there might be more factors at play, as the last line of the verse admits, "stupid revenge is what's making you stay".

This song is blissfully vague, as pop music should be. This is one of my favorite non-punkish Undertones songs. The big fat saxophone and up-stroked guitar hints to the 2-tone ska of England's Madness, which might not be too far off considering Undertones lead singer Feargal Sharkey would later collaboration with the group.
