Hey J. Gray, Keep Playing Those Sad Songs
As Emily pointed out in her previous post, it is unusually warm here in Philly today. Despite (or in spite) of unseasonable warmth, the skies are becoming gray...perfect for some lo-fi, mellow music.
J. Gray, a new Devendra Banhart meets Elliot Smith styled singer-songwriter from Fort Worth specializes in such music (last name a coincidence?) Funny enough, on one of his darker tunes he is asked to stop playing these types of songs. The appropriately titled "Stop Playing Those Sad Songs" is a strummed, somber ballad with a great melody and an interesting perspective.
