Electric Prunes Are a Gassy Thing
So says Dick Clark in this 1966 episode of American Bandstand featuring The Electric Prunes! Sure the song title "I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night" is a great play on words and the song itself has an awesome fuzzed out sound. But what's with the name guys? As you'll see in the end, the Electric Prunes let Dick in on how the name came about. For some reason I think band-member, James "Weasel" Spagnola, is hiding the real truth. Maybe the secret lies beneath his perfectly groomed mop-top. The world may never know...
