Cheese-Tastic Throwback! Make Way for NYC's The Colors
The classic "striped half-top and sport coat" will never die.
Let's hear it for great Power-Pop music by dorky kids in bright-colored clothing and bowl cuts! I am talking about The Colors, a fun band that formed in the late 70's amidst the rise of Blondie, The Ramones and The Talking Heads and created a sound that was all their own. It's all-American cheesy pop music, with a punk edge, and it is fantastic!
Someone's buttons are about to power-pop right off of their pants!
Uhhh, Tennis anyone?
Their stuff is pretty hard to find, but if you are digging it, pick up their new vinyl-only anthology on Rave Up Records. If you are in desperate need of more music like this, pick up the seminal Power-Pop compilation Yellow Pills, via The Numero Group
Below, I have included one of their goofy, pre-MTV videos (trivia: Basquiat helped graffiti the set's backdrop!) and 2 of their best songs for your roller-skating enjoyment:
Head over to their MySpace Page for more info and songs.
