Can vs. Neu

I'm bored with the usual Beatles vs. Stones, Marvin vs. Otis, Beyonce vs. J Lo debate. How about Can vs. Neu!.

First off, as '70's krautrock goes, Can kicks Neu's ass every and any day. Case in point...

Neu!

Bubbles AND they look like a German version of Dexy's Midnight Runners? I only accept shirtless overalls if you are Minnie Ripperton or Kevin Rowland.

This discussion does get a little sticky when you consider Neu's involvement with Kraftwerk. Neu's drummer and guitarist were recruited to join Kraftwerk and record an album but it didn't pan out due to artistic differences. Since there really is only a 1971 Beat Club performance as these guys as Kraftwerk, I don't think it matters enough for them to be cooler than Can. However, had they been showroom dummies, Neu might actually not be so boring.

These bands should all be in your record collection regardless of who you think is better. I personally recommend Monster Movie by Can, Trans-Europe Express by Kraftwerk, and I suppose the self titled Neu!
