21st Century Headrush: Ponytail - "Beg Waves"
Baltimore's Ponytail is less of a band and more of an abstraction. Vocals are cut into non-sensical fragments and the music moves like a steam roller heading dangerously off course (think HEALTH, OOIOO, Boredoms).
A prime example of this would be the 4-headed monster "Beg Waves" from their debut album Ice Cream Spiritual. It's fun, catchy, and in the end--you won't even know what hit ya! Weeee!
Ice Cream Spiritual is available now on We Are Free Records. Ponytail visits Philly twice this summer--July 23rd at The Church and Aug. 22nd at JB's. Check it out.
